With some quiet time during the holiday season, I’ve started a new, rather ambitious watercolor. It is so big, I had to start working on it on the floor with a drop cloth. Once I get farther down the paper, I’ll be able to put it on my table and reach everything for continued work. It is 35 x 28″ in size. I haven’t decided on a title yet, but it is the Oconoluftee river in Smoky Mountain National Park. I’m looking forward to the new year! Happy 2019 all!
Artisphere 2019
Good news today! I found out that for the third year running, I was accepted to the Artisphere weekend event in Greenville, SC, May 10-12. YAY! So I’ll be working on other new watercolors to show and sell that in that art show and sale. This is an amazing event, and I’m really happy to be participating again this year.
New Watercolors
I have finished two new watercolors, and am very happy with the end result for each of them. The first is titled “Old Dairy Barn”. It is 21 x 14″, a framed watercolor, ready to hang, available for sale for $650. SOLD
The second is titled “Tom Branch Waterfall”. It is a 14 x 18″ framed watercolor, ready to hang, and available for sale for $675. SOLD
“Cape Lookout”
I just finished my largest painting to date … a private commission that is a whopping 6′ x 3′. This is an oil on canvas gallery wrap painting that is a private commission. I’m grateful I had my husband’s help with building the frame for this canvas as I believe it might have been too difficult for me to tackle solo.
NC Watercolor Society Acceptance
Good news yesterday! My recent completed watercolor, “Stone Bridge” has been accepted into the 2018 Annual Juried Exhibition of the Watercolor Society of NC—Oct. 7-Nov. 16 at the Florence Thomas Art School in West Jefferson, NC. I am absolutely thrilled!

“River and Snow” Sale
It’s been an exciting couple of months. My experience at the Greenville, SC Artsphere festival was quite good for the second year in a row showing and selling my watercolor paintings. Just before this event, I sold several paintings and got a new commission for a large piece … my largest one to date. Had to build the frame for the canvas, and prep the surface for painting. This is a big project and will take time, but it is exciting and I’m happy for this opportunity.
This past week “River and Snow” sold at the Buffalo Creek Gallery where I participate as a co-op artist.
So I’m counting my blessings and feeling grateful!
“Stone Bridge”
20 x 16″ Watercolor with custom framing ~ $850 SOLD
I have just finished a new watercolor that I enjoyed creating very much. Stone Bridge was built in the 1920s over the Little River in North Florida. Workers hauled in concrete in wheelbarrows … a process that was so tedious and labor intensive that it must have taken a zillion! The bridge is no longer in use but remains a beautiful testament to architecture of the past.

My newest painting is a custom framed, oil on canvas piece that is 14 x 11″ and available for sale for $240. SOLD
This tree is on the St. Mary’s River in northern Florida. It is a “black water” river caused by all the tanin in the water. These huge, twisted trees grow in wet areas all over the southern US.
“Great Blue” Wins First Place
I just got a call this week that one of my newer watercolors, “Great Blue” won first place at the “A Natural View” show in Gastonia at the Arts on Main Gallery. I didn’t even realize they were having this show and thrilled that this piece was selected! “Great Blue” is a custom framed watercolor, sized 20 x 16″ and available for sale: $750. SOLD
“Whitewash”
I cannot resist a beautiful, old weathered barn! I found this one with its fading paint is along a NC back road south of North Wilkesboro, NC. This finished watercolor is custom framed and double matted, 15 x 11.5″ SOLD.
