The 500,000 acre Pisgah National Forest is a beautiful hardwood forest in western North Carolina. There are some massive waterfalls in easy hiking distance. I was last there following some heavy rainfall earlier in the week, and the amount of water cascading down the rock faces was impressive!
“Sunflowers III”
I am so thankful I have the retreat of my studio to paint. I finished this 12 x 12″ oil on canvas recently, and just love the bright energy of these sunflowers! Looking at them makes my heart feel hopeful.
“Carrick Creek II”
Carrick Creek Falls is located in Table Rock State Park near Pickens, SC. I enjoy hiking there , and have been inspired to paint this waterfall multiple times. This new painting is a watercolor, measuring 21 x 15″. I have it matted, framed and ready to hang, and it is now available for sale for $850.
“Split Rail”
Living in western North Carolina, I really enjoy being up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This watercolor is from near milepost 189, a view of Puckett Cabin, former home of Orlean and John Puckett. Orlean worked as a midwife, serving her community in Carroll for many years, delivering more than one thousand babies.
“Buds”
I have just completed a smaller oil on canvas that I am calling “Buds.” These are my “grandcats,” sitting on a table together, gazing out a window to watch the birds and squirrels.
“Aspen Meadow”
My newest watercolor “Aspen Meadow” is complete. I enjoyed this piece, which was a smaller painting following my most recent commission.
Happy Endings
I was very happy to successfully deliver “Yacht Island, Lake Lure, NC” to the individuals who commissioned this piece. A VERY good day!
“Yacht Island, Lake Lure, NC” Commission
I have recently completed a really large project … a 40 X 32″ oil on canvas commissioned piece that is such a beautiful view of a part of Lake Lure. This was a big endeavor, but I enjoyed working on step by step. One of the things I like about this work is watching a painting come to life as I complete each section. And of course, on a painting this large, it is a tremendous feeling of accomplishment when I complete the final steps.
“Walking on Water”
Each winter I hope our area will get luck and we’ll have some snow and true winter weather. I recently painted this scene from a photo my husband took last winter when it was cold enough to snow and freeze the local pond. We really enjoyed our winter walk that day!
“Stone Mountain Cabin”
I’ve recently completed a new watercolor, “Stone Mountain Cabin”. This is an original pioneer farm home preserved in Stone Mt. State Park in NC as part of a model 19th century farm with a barn and other outbuildings.
