Stone Mt. State Park watercolors

I’ve recently finished two watercolor paintings, inspired by the beautiful scenery from trails I’ve hiked in the last year in the Stone Mountain State Park in Roaring Gap, NC. It’s just a beautiful area, and I have really enjoyed camping there!

“Clifftop”

I recently finished this watercolor. My husband and I have camped and done some wonderful hiking in the Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina, and this view was really inspiring!

“Indian Creek Falls”

I’ve just finished an oil on canvas, “Indian Creek Falls.” This image I painted from a photograph my husband Bob took this past year when we were hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains. This trail was so beautiful! I can’t decide which I liked better … this hike or painting the image of the lovely falls.

“Oconaluftee River” ~ completed watercolor

It’s finished and one of my biggest watercolor painting to date. It is so big, I began painting this with my paper on the floor because I couldn’t reach the top area when I had it laid out on my work table. I’m really happy with the results, and look forward to this one being a highlight of my display for my booth at the “Artisphere” in Greenville, SC May 10-12, 2019. In the meantime, I’ve got this piece displayed in my space at the Buffalo Creek Gallery, in Shelby, NC.

35.5×27″,  watercolor on paper, framed and ready to hang ~ available for sale: $2900 SOLD

The Oconaluftee, located in the Great Smoky Mountains, is considered “sacred waters” by the Cherokee, and known as the “Luftee.” It is a beautiful, freestone river that drops 2,000 feet over 10 miles.

Biggest Watercolor Ever

With some quiet time during the holiday season, I’ve started a new, rather ambitious watercolor. It is so big, I had to start working on it on the floor with a drop cloth. Once I get farther down the paper, I’ll be able to put it on my table and reach everything for continued work. It is 35 x 28″ in size. I haven’t decided on a title yet, but it is the Oconoluftee river in Smoky Mountain National Park. I’m looking forward to the new year! Happy 2019 all!

I just finished my largest painting to date … a private commission that is a whopping 6′ x 3′. This is an oil on canvas gallery wrap painting that is a private commission. I’m grateful I had my husband’s help with building the frame for this canvas as I believe it might have been too difficult for me to tackle solo.

“Stone Bridge”

20 x 16″ Watercolor with custom framing ~ $850 SOLD

I have just finished a new watercolor that I enjoyed creating very much. Stone Bridge was built in the 1920s over the Little River in North Florida. Workers hauled in concrete in wheelbarrows … a process that was so tedious and labor intensive that it must have taken a zillion! The bridge is no longer in use but remains a beautiful testament to architecture of the past.

My newest painting is a custom framed, oil on canvas piece that is 14 x 11″ and available for sale for $240. SOLD

This tree is on the St. Mary’s River in northern Florida. It is a “black water” river caused by all the tanin in the water. These huge, twisted trees grow in wet areas all over the southern US.

I cannot resist a beautiful, old weathered barn! I found this one with its fading paint is along a NC back road south of North Wilkesboro, NC.  This finished watercolor is custom framed and double matted, 15 x 11.5″ SOLD.
