“Clifftop”

I recently finished this watercolor. My husband and I have camped and done some wonderful hiking in the Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina, and this view was really inspiring!

“Oconaluftee River” ~ completed watercolor

It’s finished and one of my biggest watercolor painting to date. It is so big, I began painting this with my paper on the floor because I couldn’t reach the top area when I had it laid out on my work table. I’m really happy with the results, and look forward to this one being a highlight of my display for my booth at the “Artisphere” in Greenville, SC May 10-12, 2019. In the meantime, I’ve got this piece displayed in my space at the Buffalo Creek Gallery, in Shelby, NC.

35.5×27″,  watercolor on paper, framed and ready to hang ~ available for sale: $2900 SOLD

The Oconaluftee, located in the Great Smoky Mountains, is considered “sacred waters” by the Cherokee, and known as the “Luftee.” It is a beautiful, freestone river that drops 2,000 feet over 10 miles.

Biggest Watercolor Ever

With some quiet time during the holiday season, I’ve started a new, rather ambitious watercolor. It is so big, I had to start working on it on the floor with a drop cloth. Once I get farther down the paper, I’ll be able to put it on my table and reach everything for continued work. It is 35 x 28″ in size. I haven’t decided on a title yet, but it is the Oconoluftee river in Smoky Mountain National Park. I’m looking forward to the new year! Happy 2019 all!

20 x 16″ Watercolor with custom framing ~ $850 SOLD

I have just finished a new watercolor that I enjoyed creating very much. Stone Bridge was built in the 1920s over the Little River in North Florida. Workers hauled in concrete in wheelbarrows … a process that was so tedious and labor intensive that it must have taken a zillion! The bridge is no longer in use but remains a beautiful testament to architecture of the past.

“Great Blue” ~ a new watercolor

This great blue heron is one of the thousands of water birds that live in Huntington Beach State Park in South Carolina. We found this one perched on a boardwalk that runs out into the salt marsh.

New Watercolors

I’ve been working on two watercolors recently. I’ve completed one of them: “Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station, Outer Banks, NC”, 22 x 16″, $700 which includes matting and framing. This the restored Chicamacomico Life Saving Station in Rodanthe NC, on Hatteras Island. Before the Coast Guard, there were life saving stations scattered up and down the Outer Banks, which were staffed by local men who watched for ship wrecks and tried to rescue sailors. This one has been restored and preserves much history of bygone days on the Outer Banks.
